VCMG News: 12 Challenges to be addressed by the Visual Cognitive Manufacturing Group members

Following the launch of the VCMG by Digital Manufacturing Ireland this week, 12 key industry challenges have been selected by manufacturing companies to be addressed by our wider membership. As we build the project teams for these challenges, we wish to invite those who did not have an opportunity to attend the launch to engage with the selected challenges and identify those that are of particular interest to your organisation.

From the challenges below, please consider which of these your organisation could contribute to or benefit from and then share your selection with us at DMI.

12 Industry Challenges

  1. Guidance & Support for companies starting with Machine Vision.
  2. Proof of concepts and short notice testing.
  3. Cost-efficient high-volume image analysis.
  4. Validation of Vision & AI Systems.
  5. Precision measurement for Micro and Nano parts in 2D and 3D for inspection and assembly.
  6. Increase in deployment capacity - Near Term.
  7. Reduction of false negatives.
  8. Differentiate between similar coloured/shaped products.
  9. 360-degree component inspection.
  10. Guidelines for model training.
  11. On-the-fly identification and defect sortation.
  12. Preventive maintenance by means of visual inspection and cognitive loops.
